Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is derived from inexhaustible resources such as wind, sun and sea, and from replaceable resources such as waste products and crops. Its a long-term way to tackle climate change. Renewable energy is no less reliable than energy generated from more traditional sources and using it does not mean that you have to change your lifestyle or your appliances.

Before you consider renewable energy you need to make sure your home is as energy efficient as possible to reduce your energy demand. This means insulating, using low energy light bulbs and being able to programme your central heating system among other things. Have a look at our Energy Efficiency and Grants pages for more information.
The Low Carbon Buildings Programme is a national scheme which offers grants to householders to install renewable energy systems on their properties. They also provide grants for community buildings, schools, and work places.
Additional advice is available through Renewable Energy 4 Devon. If you are a small business in a rural Objective 2 area of Devon you may also be entitled to extra funding. Check out the RE4D website or call 0800 512 012 to speak to the Renewable Energy Advisor.
